Ogunquit
Ogunquit developed from a artists colony into a thriving
but reserved gay resort (not unlike a smaller version of Provincetown)
with a number of guest houses and bars providing a mixed gay and lesbian
resort which attracts a number of older guys.

Located right at the main intersection. Casual restaurant downstairs
Very friendly and very comfortable piano bar upstairs. Quite intergenerational.
"As for gay or gay-friendly restaurants ... they all
are!! If one started being nasty to gays, they'd be out-of-business
in a flash. Ogunquit is not a flamboyant town, but is clearly upscale
enough to understand that the gay money that's spent in town is probably
the largest percentage of the "take".
However, my partner and I have found "Robertos" ... on the right as
you're walking toward Perkins Cove, as our favorite. If you're really
hungry and are looking for great "farm-type" cooking and a very friendly
place, the other favorite is the Hayloft, on the road toward Wells,
on the left. For seafood (lobster), two fine places, in opposite
directions, are very popular. North is the Lobster Pound and south
(at Perkins Cove) is Barnacle Billy's.
The beach is beautiful. As you walk along it, it will be very clear
to you
which sections are for families, mixed or gay.
Be sure to walk the Marginal way from Ogunquit beach to Perkins Cove."

The bar is not extremely large - 50 men and the place was packed.
I was there on a crowded Saturday night, Monday & Tuesday. Saturday
was lively, but men of all ages were there from 21-70ish. Monday nights
is karaoke night. It got louder as the evening went on. There were
several drags there. It was almost as crowded as Saturday. Tuesday
evening there was an informal pool tournament going on. Each time
I was there, I would say about 10% of the clientele were lesbians.
This is a real "democratic" place. It seems everyone was welcomed.
It was a little smokey, but a great place to have fun and meet interesting
men of any age, shape, size and interest.
