Appealing to gays and lesbians looking for a different experience, The New Phoenix 3 Doors appeals to a laid-back crowd. According to the owner, "It's a neighborhood bar for gay people. Check your attitudes at the door." New owner Marvin says, "In here, everyone gets along." This is a beer and wine joint with billiards and darts where people actually sit and talk to one another. They offer up drag shows on Fridays, and the whole gang has a helluva lot of fun with Karaoke, gay and lesbian style every Saturday. The Friday, October 27, Halloween party features a costume contest and very special guest star Tiffany McCray, along with Virginia Parkway and Kaye Starr. Show times are 10 PM and midnight.

The P House is a large motel and entertainment resort boasting 120 rooms with cable TV and phones. It had a reputation for a being a sleezy place - but new owners have made major changes and re-decorated all the rooms.

A new courtyard has been built over the old parking lot and on the drawing board is a gay/time share that will replace the trashy trailor park.

It now boasts a lake with artificial beach, and 4 bars - piano bar, cabaret theater, disco bar and western bar. Most of the older guys and admirers can be found in the piano bar and western bar.

This neighborhood gay bar has been owned and operated by the same proprietor for over 15 years, and the oldest bartender has been pouring draft beers and whiskey shots for over 14. All this makes 5101 something of an institution. It's a laid-back bar where you're remembered after just one visit. 5101 also has the distinction of operating almost around the clock -- the doors open daily at 7AM and don't close until 3AM. The folks who run 5101 may just be the nicest people on the planet, and the low-lit bar is just as unpretentious: A jukebox, dartboard and pool table are the only real adornments. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are "Happy Day," where drink specials last through the night. Thursday is Karaoke Night, and Sunday is Bingo Night.

Visitor report: Here's a real friendly neighborhood type place in the Lake Worth, WPB Florida area.. The owner Terry is most congenial. the drinks are very reasonable.
The men are attractive and of many ages. You can have a great time with the piano bar (Live Grand Piano) or at off times, enjoy a great Juke Box. It is Florida, dress is very casual. The food is home made, plentiful and excellent.

Restaruants. The Flamingo Restaurant is open for Lunch and Dinner every night with a full service menu. The Beatnix Coffee Shop is open all day and evening with coffee, sandwiches, snacks and pizza. The Courtyard BBQ is open weekends and special event nights for grilled burgers, hot dogs, chicken and ribs.
Tennis. We have nine full size tennis courts. Two white sand volleyball courts. (League meets Thursday
evenings for Volleyball under the lights.) Swimming Pool (Heated in the winter). We are only minutes from Ft. DeSoto Beach, rated one of the world's top ten beaches. Only a few more minutes more from Pass-A-Grill beach.
Parking. Free for over 500 cars on our paved lots with 200 spaces in our sheltered garage.

This group is 95% older Gay men and their admirers. The have yearly dues of $10.00 which also gets them a monthly news letter. They meet on the first Tuesday of each month in Venice for dinner and on the 4th Monday of each month in Sarasota for dinner. Guests are always welcome and reservations are required in advance, payment at the door. Currently you can call 941-355-8004 for these reservations.

ROMEO
(Retired Old Men Eat Out)
Get together each tuesday evening for dinner at a different location each week. They do not meet however on the Tuesday Gala dinner schedule as there is an overlap of the GALA members and ROMEO'S. After the ROMEO guys finish dinner they adjourn to a designated persons home for coffe and dessert. A really nice way to meet older men as most do not go to bars. When I have attended ROMEO'S there have been as many as 75 to 80 guys there. I am certain that if you were to call
the GALA contacct phone number you would be able to get in touch with ROMEO'S. This very nice man "BOB" goes to both functions. Besides that, there are several special events planned through out the year and always, guests are welcomed.
