The only sauna in town and it attracts all ages, but a mainly an older crowd. It has a steam-room, pool, spa, video room and snack bar. It has recently added an outdoor area with bench seats, usually occupied by smokers.

Beaches
Maslin Beach
Excellent nude beach with wonderful cliffs and surrounds. From lunchtime until dusk there are always plenty of older men around looking for some hot action in the rocks around the southernmost point, as well as in the dunes, and late at night things are even hotter. Signs have been put up restricting nude bathing to the foreshore (not the dunes) so you might cover up if wandering inland on the hunt. A new toilet facility is as busy as the old.

Report 09/01: Sydney's Kingsteam Sauna is not to be believed. I arrived in Sydney at about 2:00PM and after checking in at the hotel I went straight to it. I had a wonderful time. I went back Monday morning, worried that there might not be many guys there, but boy was I ever wrong. The place was steaming with business/married men-type dads and all very horny. Heaven! Can't wait to get back!

Social Group for mature gay men meets on the 2nd and last Saturdays of each month from 6.30pm, at the ACON building, corner Clarke & Alberta Streets Darlinghurst, Sydney with a typical attendance of a hundred members at every meeting. Also meet at The Taxi Club on Wednesdays from 6.30pm.

We have 600 members. About 120 gay and bisexual men come to each meeting. MAG has a big social program. There is no age limit on participation (18+). Average age is 62; younger admirers attend so it's an interesting mix.
MAG march every year in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. (March 2, 2002) Overseas visitors are made very welcome.

Beaches
Bondi Beach
North Bondi has taken over from Tamorama beach as the place to be seen.
Directions: Take the train to Bondi Junction and then the bus to Bondi (20mins). The gay section is at the far end of the beach.

Lady Bay Beach
Watsons Bay (aka "Lady Jane beach")
This is an official nude beach in the inner harbour. The swimming is good, but check the tides first - at high tide there is very little sand on the beach itself. The rocks that extend from the beach all the way around to the lighthouse and around South Head are very popular nude sunbathing spots with the guys and can be very cruisy in summer.

There is also a small shop for sandwiches, etc. back at Camp Cove before you get to the track for the beach, and there is a boat with ice cream & cold drinks service that comes into the beach every few hours on summer weekends. Recent upgrading of the walking path out to the lighthouse and cutting back of the shrubbery above Lady Jane has meant a lot more tourists look down on the beach for "perving" and photos...not much privacy at all!

Directions: Take the ferry to Watsons Bay from Circular Quay (30 mins) or take the bus 135 from the city centre. From the ferry as you leave the dock go along the seashore in front of Doyles Restaurant (stop and have some excellent seafood if you have time).

Follow the ramp up to the street level and keep walking until you get to a T-Junction. Turn right and then left at the next juction to Camp Cove. Follow the path past the shop and up past the toilets. Then pass the gun emplacements and along the headland. Pass another modern toilet and as the path starts to slope downhil you'll see a narrow metal stairway down to the beach.

The ferry stops quite early in the afternoon but there is a bus service to the city centre if you miss it.

Obelisk Beach
Middle Head
Also a nude beach within a Sydney Harbour National Park, with fantastic views of the harbour and city. Walk through the bush tracks from the carpark to get to the beach or sunbake on the many rock ledges. The "nature walk" through the bush is very busy on weekends from 3pm. More private and secluded than Lady Jane harder to get to by public transport and also no shop for food or drinks, so come prepared, although a boat with ice cream & cold drinks comes into the beach every few hours on summer weekends.

Directions: You can find the beach by following Middle Head Road, Mosman past the entrance to Balmoral Naval Base. Follow the road round to the right. One hundred metres along on your left there is a sign to the beach. If you carry on along the road past the beach entrance there are parking areas and the nearby bush is very "busy" day and night.

Parking area just past the naval base if going by car. To go by public transport. Monday to Friday, the 244 bus leaves Wynyard Park in the city for Balmoral Naval Base. Approximate travel time is 30 minutes. After alighting from the bus, take the road on the right and the beach is just past the car park.

If you have a bicycle or don't mind a long-ish walk you can get the ferry (12-minutes from Wharf 2, Circular Quay.) to Taronga Park Zoo. Then get the bus 238 that takes you from the Zoo harbour halfway along Middle Head Road and then it's a 20 minute walk from there. You can normally find someone to give you a lift back to Spit Junction if you miss the bus.
